Hospital 2013

I came to know the Moon Lady* in the hospital ward.  She was my neighbour for the short three days stay.  Moon Lady is a street hawker.  Her husband could not work due to health reasons and she was put to be the sole provider for her family.  She discovered that she's also a diabetic now apart from her other health issues.  She reads well in her own language and can speak and understand English.  I hope year 2013 would be good towards her.

The stay at the hospital was comfortable except that I was poked four times unsuccessfully to be connected for IV drip.  The nurses and doctors were fearful of more attempts and so was I.  In the end, I was successfully given IV drip under g.a.in the operating theatre.  Perhaps it is good that I remember this for future use ie. IV needle to be inserted at spot [ 11.3cm from finger nail base, ring finger, left hand, spot runs in a straight line to center of ring finger's nail base ].

Few things that I found useful to bring along to the ward:

a)  a tall cup for phlegm by bedside
b) a tall wide mouth container for urinating - one could always buy the pharmaceutical version and that is if you really have time to plan  your stay.  Container proves to be very useful especially when sitting position is difficult and also makes neat pouring into specimen bottle for analysis.
c)  a small face towel - freshens you up anytime when a full bath is not feasible
d) lots of books
Came home with more painkillers and medical leave ..... REST .....
